Below you will find an important message from our respectful EUFAMI Board Director, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Uppsala University (Sweden), Dr. Åsa Konradsson-Geuken.
"We are trying to increase responses from healthcare professionals to the Priorities for Future Research on Reducing and Stopping Psychiatric Medicines (PROTECT) study. If you have not yet participated, please consider doing so or passing the link to your network of contacts. The survey will close on December 31.
There are many unanswered questions about the process of reducing and discontinuing psychiatric medications (referred to as "tapering") and how best to do so. It is important that future research focus on the issues that are important to people who have lived through the experience of taking or stopping any of these medications, their family members, caregivers/caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The PROTECT study team, in collaboration with the James Lind Alliance, has created this priority-setting partnership to identify the top 10 priorities for future research on psychiatric medication reduction and discontinuation. This survey could help change the research agenda, allowing future research to focus on the most important questions. The survey will take about 5 minutes to complete.
